On Wednesday’s, homework is set for the children to complete via Seesaw and finished before the following Monday. Each week, they are given one piece of Literacy/Grammar and one piece of maths homework to complete. This is usually based on what we have been learning about in our lessons that week or identified areas that need further practice at home. I try to differentiate the homework where possible to meet the ability/needs of the children, however sometimes I think the children need a good challenge outside the classroom as well as inside. If ever the children are stuck on a piece of homework and you feel that you don't feel confident enough to support your child with this, they can leave me a message on Seesaw and I can't offer voice guidance or we can tackle it at school and I will help them with it 1-to-1.
The only time that homework may be different is if your child is set a project to complete at home. Therefore, the hand-in day will be extended to cater for this as these projects will take more time and thought to complete. I feel it is important to set children homework like to really bring out their creative sides and to show them that not all homework comes from a worksheet. You can see some WOW examples of projects in previous years in the slideshow below and it is clear how much fun was had creating these!
