Last week of term:
Some of the children have not got spellings for the last week of term. Instead you will see that the children have been given a "Christmas phonics mosaic" to complete. This can be done over the Christmas period and is a good way for children to practice reading real and nonsense words using the phonics skills that they have learnt this term.
Please continue to read as often as possible; a couple of pages every day would be fantastic!
Reading at home
I have been really impressed this year with how keen the children are to read at home. It has been fantastic to see that most of you have been reading at home almost everyday. This is a great way of developing reading skills including phonics, fluency and comprehension.
Most children have read about 40 times at home now but we have had one child who has already read at home over 100 times which is very impressive!
Keep up the good work!
Well done to all of the children who have been practicing their weekly spellings at home and trying to those that have been trying to use the sounds that they have learnt within their writing.
I have been so impressed by you all this half term with your reading! It has been amazing to see that most of the children are reading most days at home and that they are really keen to do so! We can already see lots of progress being made and we are super proud.
